ESSENDON Hockey Club product Georgia Nanscawen played a big part in Australia's battle for medals in the women's hockey at the London Olympics.
Sadly for the Hockeyroos, their run ended after a 0-0 draw in the final group match against Argentina.
The 20-year-old striker was prominent in Australia's five matches and was part of a busy bench rotation for the Hockeyroos' attacking players.
After a 1-0 defeat to New Zealand in its opening game, the Hockeyroos were on a three-win streak with a 3-1 triumph against Germany followed by 1-0 wins against the US and South Africa.
Australia would have been assured only of a top-two place in Pool B and progression to the semi-finals with victory against Argentina.
Nanscawen was yet to score at the tournament but did get a yellow card sin-bin late in Australia's win against South Africa.
