JOSH Ross is a sprint king once again after stunning a field minus Athletics Essendon's Aaron Rouge-Serret at the Australian Championships on Saturday.
Rouge-Serret false-started and was disqualified from the final, leaving Ross as the only Victorian in the field. Ross powered to victory in 10.23 seconds, ahead of NSW's Tim Leathart in 10.48 seconds.
Another Athletics Essendon Olympic hopeful Charlotte Van Veenendaal had to settle for second behind Melissa Breen in the 100m.
Breen won in 11.41 with Van Veenendaal (11.79) edging out Hayley Butler (11.80) for second.
Alwyn Jones won the men's triple jump with a best leap of 16.32m, while Ellen Pettitt won the women's triple jump with 13.66m. Johnny Rayner won the men's 800m in 1:48.10 from fellow Victorian Alexander Rowe (1:48.49).
Liam Adams finished second in the men's 5000m run in 14:08.62 behind NSW's Harry Summers (14:03.84).
