Premier bowls: Bombers stay ahead

ESSENDON continues to roll in Henselite Premier Division after a 30-shot win against Werribee RSL at the weekend.

The ladder-leading Bombers stand alone at the top of the division after dismissing a Werribee RSL side that started the round third on the table, 16-94 to 2-64.

The Bombers' 172 points was 25 clear of second-placed Moonee Ponds on Saturday night, albeit with the latter holding a game in hand.

Peter Loe (24-12), Aaron Wilson (31-19) and Anthony Flapper (20-14) were Essendon's rink winners against Werribee RSL.

In div 1 sec 2, Moonee Valley had an impressive win but still lost ground on runaway top pair MCC and Richmond Union.

Moonee Valley beat Ivanhoe 15-91 to 3-64, but its 175 points in third on the table still trails Richmond Union (193) and MCC (197).

In div 2 sec 2, Strathmore (14-77) defeated Lalor 3 (4-72) and Flemington Kensington (16-87) defeated Moonee Ponds 2 (2-70).

Flemington-Kensington maintained top spot on the table with 176 points from Craigieburn (166) and Strathmore (162).

In div 3 sec 1, Maribyrnong Park (14-74) defeated Altona Sports (4-69) and Gladstone Park (16-119) defeated Rosamond 2 (2-39.5).

In div 3 sec 2, Aberfeldie (16-87) won at Werribee RSL 4 (2-75) while Clifton Park (1-64) lost to Sunbury 3 (17-102) and Buckley Park (18-111) swept West Coburg 2 (0-49).

In div 4 sec 2, Doutta Galla (2-59) lost to Moonee Ponds 3 (16-110).
