ESSENDON District Football League will sport a Sunbury-based club in its ranks after a late-December decision by the AFL Victoria appeals board approved a clearance for East Sunbury.
The club, formerly known as Rolling Meadows, had an initial clearance application denied by the Riddell District Football League, which was upheld by AFL Victoria.
But an appeal hearing ended in a unanimous 3-0 decision by the board hearing the case to let East Sunbury into the EDFL.
The club aims to field a senior team in EDFL's soon-to-be-created division 3 next year.
