VTCA: Grammarians need wickets fast

OLD Essendon Grammarians will need a flurry of wickets to stave off defeat in North Division after making 187 and Keilor Park reached 0-58 in reply.

OEG were 5-48 before Paul Shipp (59) and contributions from the tail got the home team to 187.

Keilor Park blazed 58 runs from nine overs before stumps to take a big chunk out of the deficit.

At Scovell Reserve, visiting Strathmore is 2-89 at stumps after bowling out home team Footscray United for 137.

Adrian Gurry led the bowling attack with 3-15 while three other Mores bowlers took two wickets.

In North A1, Moonee Valley (5-79) is delicately poised in its chase of Aberfeldie Park's 113. Leo Italiano has 3-28 for Aberfeldie Park.

At Jacana, visiting Aberfeldie is 2-21 in reply to the hosts' 215 all out.

Flemington is looking at a first-innings defeat after being bowled out for 136 against Laverton, which reached 2-72 in reply at stumps.

In Senior division, St Bernards faces a big run chase against Airport West-St Christophers after the home team posted 8-257 at Etzel Street Reserve.
