MATTHEW Albers continues to star for Aberfeldie Park with the ball and will no doubt be called on with the bat this weekend as his team tries to leapfrog Taylors Lakes.
The Victorian Turf Cricket Association North A1 clash is delicately poised at Lionheart Reserve after the third-placed Taylors Lakes made 135 batting first and fourth-placed Aberfeldie Park reached 3-64 in reply.
Albers claimed 5-18 off 18.1 overs and Ben Mack 3-25 to have Taylors Lakes back in the pavilion by the 52nd over of the day. Aberfeldie Park reached 0-44 but a collapse of 3-19 sent the visitors to stumps with seven wickets in hand and still needing 72 runs to win. Leo Cullia will resume on 21 and Leo Italiano one, with Albers next to bat.
At East Keilor, visiting Aberfeldie got runs from its top order before a flurry of late wickets.
Aberfeldie's Dane Pound (62) and Ravindra Karunaratne (61) got the visitors past 200, only for a collapse of 6-32 to end the innings with 244 on the board. East Keilor was 1-5 in reply at stumps.
Elsewhere in the division, Flemington reached 1-53 in reply to Moonee Valley's 157.
In north division, Doutta Stars snared a late wicket to have Sunshine United 1-2 in reply to 189 after the visitors to Selwyn Park were bowled out in 72.1 overs.
Brendan Nash hit 66 and three batsmen reached the 30s for the Stars.
At Shorten Reserve, Sunshine Druids are 1-11 in reply to Strathmore's 139. Strathmore captain Lucas Kennedy's 42 was its top score.
Old Essendon Grammarians set Westmeadows 175 for victory, with the Warriors to resume at 0-4 this weekend.
In senior division, Airport West-StChristophers took a late wicket to make a positive start defending 205 away at McKinnon. The home team will resume at 1-3 this weekend.
St Bernards scored 8-198 away at Spotswood and will defend the score this weekend.
