NORTH West Metro Cricket Association's Twenty20 competition is getting towards the business end of the group stage as the make-up for the quarter finals starts to take shape.
Buckley Park stands alone as the only remaining unbeaten team through four rounds of competition after defeating Aberfeldie-St Johns by seven wickets last Tuesday.
The Beavers lead the West pool with 24 points from Moonee Valley 1 (18), Kealba-Green Gully (18) and Sydenham-Hillside (18) while there is a two-game gap to the fifth-placed Royal Park Reds.
The West pool is still up for grabs however, with Greenvale, Merlynston Hadfield, Strathmore Heights and Westmeadows in a four-way tie for the ladder lead on 18 points each.
Westmeadows' James Campbell had a Tuesday to remember against Merlynston Hadfield as he blazed 128 at the top of the order.
But his dismissal with the score on 153 led to Merlynston Hadfield holding on for victory, 6-198 to the Warriors' 192 all out.
Tarek Moughanie, normally a VTCA regular with Greenvale on weekends, has been one of the T20 stars in the NWMCA competition as he led his team to an eight-wicket win against Strathmore Heights.
Moughanie has been the biggest basher of the T20 competition to date, with 195 runs including a century against Jacana.
Mid-week action resumes on Tuesday, January 31 in the penultimate round of pool matches.
