COMING back from being bowled out for 39 was always going to be difficult for Aberfeldie-St Johns as Roxburgh Park completed an outright win in Luscombe Shield at the weekend.
Batting short a couple of players condemned the home team to an outright loss at Fairbairn Park, breathing life back into the finals race of North West Metropolitan Cricket Association's top division.
Roxburgh Park's 10-point haul lifted it to 25 in fifth on the table.
Timing of a declaration was key for Roxburgh Park.
It had been all out for 121 in its first innings but still led by 82 before taking to the crease a second time.
Harley Short (66) and and Jarryd Garvin (36) kept the run rate ticking over as Roxburgh Park called time on its innings at 6-170 off 34 overs, a lead of 252.
Aberfeldie-St Johns lost 3-36 early but put up some resistance with Damon Brohaska (61) and Evan Miller (25) scoring runs before the team was all out at 7-122 off 31.1 overs.
Buckley Park claimed regular wickets to prevent Pascoe Vale Central ever getting within range of chasing down its 5-283 scored the previous weekend.
Hardeep Bassi's 3-29 was best of the Buckley Park bowling.
Asif Rasool took 2-28 and Wes Telford 2-44 as Pascoe Vale was all out for 171.
In other Luscombe Shield matches, Sydenham-Hillside (8-183) defeated Gladstone Park (128) and Kealba-Green Gully (7-429) beat Burnside Springs (174 & 2-95).
In Vic Kyte Shield, Strathmore Heights remains unbeaten on top of the ladder after a 21-run win against Sydenham-Hillside at Boeing Reserve.
