Luscombe Shield: Buckley Park keeps on top

10 Jan, 2012 12:00 AM
BUCKLEY Park held its nerve in the final over to keep top spot on the Luscombe Shield ladder via a two-run win against Sydenham-Hillside at the weekend.

Defending 9-176 at Buckley Park East, the Beavers bowled out the visiting Storm for 174 with two balls to spare.

The narrow win keeps Buckley Park top of the North West Metropolitan Cricket Association's top league by six points, 57 to Kealba-Green Gully on 51.

Buckley Park was sent in and lost six batsmen for single figures.

But Mark McPherson (41), Anthony Haseloff (41) and Daniel Mociak (42 not out) scored the bulk of the runs as Buckley Park batted out its 40 overs to make 9-176.

At Fairbairn Park, Aberfeldie St Johns couldn't match second-placed Kealba-Green Gully as the home team was bowled out for 102 in reply to 134.

The loss leaves Aberfeldie-St Johns in fifth on 15 points.
