Black Caviar to hit Moonee Valley

24 Jan, 2012 12:00 AM
THE fastest horse in the world, Black Caviar will run under lights at Moonee Valley Racecourse this Friday in the 1200-metre Australia Stakes.

Time is running out for Melburnians to see Australia's biggest track star, with trainer Peter Moody last week confirming the 'black bombshell' had been nominated for two sprints at the Dubai World Cup meeting on March 31.

Black Caviar will be aiming to win her 17th consecutive race at the Valley in what is being billed as a farewell tour for the mare before she races in Perth and heads overseas.

The horse is no stranger to Moonee Valley, having won numerous group one and two races at the track, including the 2010 Australia Stakes, the Schweppes Stakes and William Reid Stakes.

Friday night's Australia Stakes meeting will feature mechanical surfboard competition, wood chopping, Double Dan horsemanship performance, a gourmet Aussie barbecue and a whip-cracking demonstration.
